OPERATING THEATRE
Since
Januari2018 the operating theatre unit comprises 4 buildings. The new
theatre has two operating rooms (theatre 1 and 2) and a well-equipped
recovery. General surgeries and Eye surgeries are done here. The old
theatre (theatre 3) is used for orthopedic surgeries, clean minor
procedures needing anesthesia While evacuation, big wound toilets,
fracture treatment extensive wound dressings are done in an
evacuation / minor procedure room in theatre 3. There is also an
ultrasonography machine. This machine serves patients especially
outside working hours and with a surgical or obstetrical condition. A
new Ultrasound machine makes diagnoses more accurate. This was among
the goods donated by Friends of Sengerema Hospital
A
modern central sterilization unit connects the old and newer part of
the theatre it has 3 autoclaves and a competent team to take care of
the sterile supplies of the hospital. The system in the central
sterilization contributes to less post operative infections.
Visiting
Surgeons Dr Staal and team from the Netherlands came twice for 2
weeks.
TUWT,
a team of orthopedic surgeons came 4 times for cleft lip surgeries
and burns surgeries.
